PACIFIC BEACH MIDDLE SCHOOL AND
MISSION BAY HIGH SCHOOL
START CARTRIDGE RECYCLING PROGRAM

In response to yet more budget cuts to the San Diego Unified School District, Pacific Beach Middle School and Mission Bay High School has started an inkjet cartridge recycling program sponsored by the Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools (FOPBSS).   Proceeds from this recycling project will directly benefit academic programs at both schools.  States Pat Hom, FOPBSS, “We will be recycling empty laser, fax, copier, and inkjet cartridges as well as used cell phones, for two reasons.  First, we are trying to preserve our environment by keeping these harmful items out of landfills, and secondly, to raise much needed funds for our schools.”

The cartridges and cell phones that are collected are returned to Cartridges for Kids.  Cartridges for Kidsor CFK, has been in the business of recycling since the late 1980’s, and is committed to helping prevent millionsof cartridges and cell phones that pollute our earth, from going into landfills each year.  PBMS and MBHS are among more than 10,000 non-profit organizations nationwide that are helping the environment by recycling.

The Pacific Beach community is welcome to join in this project and turn your trash into our treasure and feel good about helping the environment all at the same time. Almost everyone uses cartridges, either at home or at work.  They come from fax machines, copiers, and printers.  Many people have extra cell phones to dispose of.

Community and business supporters can participate at no cost in the Business Sponsor program with Cartridges for Kids.  CFK will send postage-paid pre-printed shipping labels to business supporters for the return of cartridges and cell phones.  Or these items can be dropped off at the office of PB Middle School or Mission Bay High School. You may also contact Diana at Cartridges for Kids to pick up your cartridges and cell phones if you have too many to bring to the school: diana@cartridgesforkids.com.

To learn more about this valuable recycling program, please call Diana at 858-231-3839 or email her.  For more information, visit www.cartridgesforkids.com or call toll free 800-420-0235.
